Located atop Corcovado Mountain, the Christ the Redeemer Statue is the symbol of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. The 38-metre high statue built between 1922 and 1931 portrays Jesus with his arms open wide, in a gesture which seems to welcome and protect the city beneath his feet
